For the last few years we have been allowed to dress up for Halloween at work. I like Halloween. It's fun to dress up as something (or someone) else. I don't get into it like I used to because Honey is not a "Halloweener," as he calls those of us who enjoy the holiday. So while we don't hand out treats, I still get to partake in the silliness at my place of employment.
This year I dressed as a run of the mill pirate until Honey suggested a Pittsburgh Pirate. All it took was a little bit of thought to put my own spin to this idea. Black pants, golden yellow T-shirt (Pittsburgh Pirate colors), then the pirate garb, head covered in a red bandanna (pirate style), big hoop earring in one ear, eye patch, hook attachment for the hand, pirate sword. Then to put the twist on it I wore the Pittsburgh Pirate hat that I got when we went to the game on top of the bandanna.
With a little prodding when someone said, "Oh, you're a pirate," I would then ask in my best pirate voice, "Aye matey, but what kind of pirate?" A couple of people got it right off the bat (no pun intended). Most of the time I had to take my sword and point at the "P" on the hat. If they still didn't get it, I would tell them in the pirate voice, "I'm a Pittsburgh Pirate from the Caribbean!"
I won first place in the funniest costume category. My prize was a basket of candy, a Halloween candle, and a $25 gift certificate to Olive Garden. I asked Honey what he thought of Halloween since I won a prize on his idea? He said, "it's still stupid."
"Aaarrrrgh"
Sorry no picture on that one, but thanks to my friend Sue back in Ohio here are some pictures of things you really don't want to wear to work. I would even say not to wear them out in public but then we wouldn't have the pictures.

Gee, sort of looks like what you see on a beach anymore. Congrats of
winning your prize! I seem to remember you always did excellent in the
costume department. Yellow and black--being the sports unenthusiast that I
am, I probably would have hazarded 'a pirate bee with a handicap?'. Fun.
I found it easier to have the kids knock at my door {see my blog) I haven't
dressed up in years.
I see a lot of the costumes were "X" rated, ha ha
Those pictures were hilarious. Especially that new born baby being born.

Holy cow! How have I missed all this??! Those are incredible. I have to
think a couple of them must have been taken at Mardi Gras! As for your
Pirate pun, it was great. I'm a big believer in "concept" costumes and that
was great concept.
I'm not sure where the pictures were taken. They were all in an e-mail
joke being passed around among family members. Thanks Sophmom, the pirate
was fun.
