Undivided

posted Wednesday, 5 November 2008

Today I woke up undivided and full of hope.  I could not watch the election returns last night because the thought of waking to the same old divisive negative America was crushing me.  For the first time in a long time I'm an American first, not a blue or red American, not a Democrat or Republican American just an American.

Today there is a new face of America on a new page in history.  Everything is possible.

President elect Obama's acceptance speech.

Today we awake to the reality of a dream begun long ago.  Change has been a long time coming.

What an Election Night it was! I was just emailing my son Josh, who lives in Pittsburgh, when it was announced that Obama was projected to win Pennsylvania. At that point, I felt it was over, and going to be a huge victory for President-Elect Obama.

Both speeches were worth being awake to hear. It's so hopeful!

Congratulations, to you and to the USA! There was a straight choice between the past and the future and America chose the future.

This is a pivotal time in the life of the United States, where we can fall as a superpower or take a new path to a brighter future. I understand your pensiveness about the election. Black folks, in particular, have often been disappointed by the racial history of this nation we love but doesn't always show that love in return.

But this election illustrated that we have a coalition of Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Asians and Native Americans that want this nation's true colors to show - Red, White & Blue! We Are One America!

Catty!

This really is a pivotal moment in our history! I am still two days later over emotional. In my life time I never thought I would see the day that so many became united! Cheers to the America I was taught to love! Cheers to the America that is finally moving forward once again! Cheers to our black brothers and sisters for they have earned the glory of this day in ways that the rest of us can only imagaine!

Peace!

better late than never I guess, in terms of me finally catching up with you! I agree - morning after Election felt good - excellent vibes where I work and people were very upbeat, which was a nice change of pace. And Hillary for secretary of state...hmmmm....will that keep her out of any future presidential races?

It truly was a beautiful speech. I cried through it and they were happy tears. :) Hope you're doing well Catty. By the way, what are you making for Thanksgiving and will you post photos? I like it when you cook. :)
