Post Election

posted Wednesday, 8 November 2006

Tuesday night, Honey and I ran off to vote.  They had the new touch screen voting machines which were easy to use but didn't have any "plan B", paper trail in place.  This disturbed me but I got over it.  Then we went to dinner and did some shopping.  Action packed evening.

We got home in time to put our groceries away.  Then I ran off to bed with a new book, Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code.  Yea, I'm behind, but I want to see what all the fuss is about.  I got through the first couple of chapters which yielded a murder by an albino, and a secret that the victim needs to divulge before he dies, but not to the albino.

I drifted off to sleep around 7:30pm and was sleeping soundly when Honey crawled into bed later.  He whispered a bedtime story into my sleepy ears,  "the democrats are kicking ass."  I managed a, "mmmm hmmm.  That's nice," then rolled over to snuzzle my kitty and drift back to dream land.  My dreams were filled with dancing donkey's Ala Disney's Fantasia.  They were kicking the southbound end of northbound elephants.  The donkeys were filled with the knowledge that they better serve the people or their tenure would be short.  No more pandering to the profiteers.  It was time they served the downtrodden American worker.  They were going to make America great again.  They'd work hard to fix social security, broken borders, the sagging wages and middle class.  Heck, lets throw in some election reform and health care for all.  Oh such dreams I dreamed.

I woke up, caught an online assessment of yesterday's election, and found the democrats really were looking like big winners.  Then it was off to work where I was surrounded by my happy little co-workers.  We practically skipped while doing our duties basking in election afterglow.

I headed to the grocery on my way home, fun with nachos tonight.  I had barely gotten into the door when Honey called on the telly.  He was like some perky kid, jumping up and down.  He yelled, "turn on CNN."  I just asked, "Why?"  He goes on, "you'll never guess who quit.  Resigned.  Come on.  Guess, Guess, GUESS!!"  I'm thinking, "OH MY GOD!  Can this day get any better?!? . . . . . . .(this is where Catty drifts into Daydream Land) . . . .

~~~~~~~Oh yea, George Bush aka The shrub, seeing the overwhelming democratic victory, senses his dictatorship abilities are severely limited and resigns.  (It's my fantasy, write your own)  The American people start dancing in the streets to, what else, Martha and the Vandellas, Dancing in the Streets.  The original and still the best in my opinion.  But wait!  Dick Cheney out hunting (with) a bunch of lawyers has a mishap and the lawyers end up bagging Dick.  What a bummer.  He won't get to be pres.  Then just as the job falls to Dennis Hastert, he's indicted for covering up the Mark Foley fiasco.  Then Ted Stevens . . . .well anyway it goes down the line until it comes to someone I like, who happens to also read our blogs.  Realizing the infinite wisdom buried in the blogosphere, he starts to utilize bloggers for cabinet positions.  ~~W~~ gets family and labor.  Paula gets education.   John Sherck gets DEP.  The Capt. gets drug enforcement ~~~~~~~~~~~
 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ."CATTY!!  Can you guess?  Rumsfeld resigned!!"  Honey  bursts.  I manage a "wow, that's really cool, Honey."  It's still a good day.
Yea I know, John Sherck, nothing has really changed.  A girl can dream though.
The election results were sure sending a message to the shrub! I have not read the Da Vinci code either, the subject matter doesn't interest me for some reason. Let me know what you think of it.
GREAT post, Catty! I'm still laughing. I am surrounded by Republicans at work, so have to be very, very discreet. I don't see myself making it through '08 there. It just won't be possible.
Hey, I'm hopeful too, even if I am also cynical. Here's hoping!
