. . . .with the hearing impaired.
I'm cleaning up the job site. I ask the paper hanger if she needs anything before I go. I hear my cell phone ringing. This is unusual. I usually don't hear my cell phone ringing. I grab the phone, flip it open. I notice it's Honey on my way to hit the answer button.
I say: Hello.
I hear Honey say: Hey, where are you?
I say: At work. What are you doing?
I hear Honey say: I'm craaaaing an aaaaa.
Buzzzzzzzzzz.
I say: Hello? What?
I hear Honey say: I'm craaaaaaing an aaaaa.
I say: You are what? Cracking an egg?
I hear Honey say: No! I'm craaaing an aaaa. When are you coming home?
I say: I'm putting my coat on now. I'll be home in 15 minutes.
I hear Honey say: Ok, I'll wait.

Now I'm thinking. 1. Why would it make a difference if I'm home or not if he wants to crack an egg? 2. Honey is not a big egg eater so why would he choose eggs when there are things he likes better? 3. We have leftover tacos. 4. What would he be making that includes eggs?
Something is not right. I better get home.
Fifteen minutes later I'm walking into the house to the smell of leftover tacos. On quick inspection of the kitchen there are no eggs, cracked or otherwise.
Now I'm curious. I ask, "Honey, what were you saying on the phone about cracking an egg?"
He says, "that's not what I said. I said I was going crabbing at eight. You know, at my brother's watching football and eating crabs."
"Ahhhh, that's tonight, huh?" This makes much more sense.
You get left over tacos and he gets crab. There's something wrong with
that picture.
Oh well, as long as he doesn't bring the "crabs" home he he

I don't have a crab joke, but I understand you - I don't wear a hearing aid
yet, but I have lots of trouble with low noises and background noise. It's
sooooo frustrating when you can't decipher what someone is saying. Glad it
was only crabs and not something worse! Have a good weekend Catty.
I can empathize. I have a over 50% hearing loss in my left ear, and it
frustrates me, trying to hear things at a distance. Crabbing, my wife &
father-in-law actually go crabbing for blue crabs at night in the summer,
his only daughter (of 4), who will.
Next time Honey's goin' crabbing, I want to go too! :)
